I joined the Governing Body of Lady Manners School in 2000 as an LEA representative, having been a Governor of Bakewell Infants School for 6 years.
I obtained a BSc Degree in Management Sciences from Lancaster University and then undertook a three year Diploma in Trading Standards course in London whilst working for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. I married Andrew, a partner in a London firm of Solicitors, in 1985. Our son, Joseph (who started at Lady Manners School in September 2000) was born in September 1988 and in January 1989 Andrew died of Leukaemia. I moved to Bakewell and joined Derbyshire County Council's Trading Standards Division, where I still work as a Senior Trading Standards Officer, specialising in Consumer Safety matters. I am actively involved in the Trading Standards Institute at a local and national level. I am currently studying for an MBA.
