I have had the privilege of working at Lady Manners School since 1996, originally employed to teach Art and Design and Textiles Technology. Since then I have enjoyed many years with responsibility in the Careers and PSHE department, and have taught Art and Design: Textiles; Ceramics; Media Studies; General Studies and Citizenship. It is through these additional areas of involvement in the life of the school that I hope to have helped better prepare students for their lives beyond school.
I now hold, in my opinion, the best position of all as Sixth Form Year Tutor where I have the honour of working in a pastoral role with post-16 students as well as teaching every year group. Upholding the school’s fine traditions and initiating change and progress are fundamental to my way of working as are instilling and reinforcing self–confidence, creativity and original thinking in the students I am fortunate enough to help educate.
My degree and original career in Fashion Design has given me true insight to the world of industry and commerce and involved management as well as regular and extensive travel to fashion capitals. I would not exchange my career now for that, albeit glamorous, life and I hope to continue in my work at this excellent school.
