Student Work During the School Closure

Our students (and their parents and carers) have been magnificent during the current period of school closure.  We'd like to send a huge thank you to the 96% of them who have logged on to Myvle to access work in the last week.

After Easter we will be introducing an approach to help them to share all that good work with their teachers. Emails have been sent to explain the approach, which is (click on the relevant section):

Year 7 (click here for details)

  • Work will continue to be set for each subject on a weekly basis on Myvle.
  • Completed work should be saved on the student’s computer or a memory stick. Please include the student name in the file name for each document. Work for more practical subjects (such as Art) can be photographed.
  • Files can then be uploaded to special folders in the school’s Shared Area, accessible from home via the StudentWork links on Myvle and at the top of this page.  Full instructions are available here. Once logged on, students should navigate to:
    • The subject for which you want to upload work
    • The folder called ‘Homework’
    • Year 7
    • Teacher’s name
  • Teachers will review this work each week and provide class-wide feedback in the message they leave for students on Myvle the following week.

The one exception to this is Maths, who will continue to set work using MyMaths.

Arrangements for Year 12 exams are being made, and further details will follow, so students should keep going with their revision.

Hints and tips

  • Try to keep a balance; we recommend that students only spend as much time on their work as they would if they were still at school.
  • Quizlet, Kerboodle and Seneca do not work well from Internet Explorer. Use Google Chrome or Safari (if using an Apple device) instead.
  • Teachers are not able to read Mac files (eg Pages, Keynote) so students should save these as pdfs before uploading.
  • Please try to minimise file sizes when uploading them, especially if they are photos.
  • The school will only require students to access reputable online resources as detailed in the work provided on Myvle. If you wish to supplement this with other online resources, please ensure the source is reputable.

We thank the students again for continuing to work so hard. We are missing them all and look forward to seeing them again soon.
